A mid-terrace ( former Slate Miners ) cottage situated in the small quiet village of Tanygrisiau, Snowdonia, North Wales available for rent as self-catering holiday accomodation. These cottages were built for the slate miners of the area in the mid 1800's. Imagine these cottages when the slate miners used to live in them.

Enjoy the panoramic views and beauty of Snowdonia and North Wales from this base which is surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park. The scenery around the cottage is quite spectacular. Why not take a holiday and experience a few days in Snowdonia and North Wales based at this cottage? Even travelling to the cottage can be quite an experience.

Tanygrisiau is an ideal location for exploring the region of Snowdonia. There is the wonderful backdrop of the Moelwyn mountains. The cottage is nestled on the lower slopes. Hill-walks and rock-climbs are on the doorstep. Some local attractions include; award-winning Llechwedd Slate Caverns home to the world-famous Miners' Tramway. Also, the world's oldest narrow guage railway, and the Hydro-electric Power Station.

Many other attractions and activity pursuits are easily accessible by car within one half-hour drive. Go white-water rafting or take your mountain bikes, cycles, canoes, kayaks, hangliders, paragliders, and use the cottage as a base from which to venture forth and enjoy these activities. The famous Italianite village of Portmeirion where 'The Prisoner' series was filmed is only a few miles away. The Ffestiniog Railway even has a station near Portmeirion.

The cottage is ideal for holiday makers wanting good value for money accommodation. It is equipped with modern basic appliances suitable for self-catering, and to make your stay comfortable. Some of the original features of the cottage have been retained such as; exposed stone walls, wooden beams and inglenook fireplace, a log-burner that substitutes for a range. Some modern appliances such as television and telephone are not included in the cottage, but with portable televisions and mobile phones you can easily bring these with you.

Interior pictures of the cottage will give you a good indication of what to expect. Our Ebay auctions have provided us with good feedback, though now we are just getting direct business through the likes of Google, we have just set up a Guestbook. Both these sources of feedback should give you confidence in booking the cottage for a holiday.

Winter bookings. The cottage is available all the year round for holidays. The electric shower is not so good at heating the very cold water in the winter, but hopefully, you can survive with a mildly warm shower, or just a flannel wash, if neccessary. As I have said before, just imagine how tough it must have been for the Slate Miners living here without the modern conveniences.

Prices are set to reflect a low season rate all the year round. Snowdonia looks beautiful in the winter just as much as in the summer. Seasoned hill-walkers will appreciate this.

Relax around a real fire. During the winter months after a day's recreation, you can appreciate the warmth and glow of a real log fire as you settle in for the evening with a bottle of your favourite wine or beer.
